“This is perhaps the most personal of my albums to date. It took a lot of groundwork before I was able to get a foothold on this repertory, which had barely been explored by guitarists. I think this music suits the guitar perfectly. Besides that, Haydn’s music generally is of far-reaching importance. It’s said of Haydn that he was the original composer, as he was the only one that invented forms.

I love listening to Haydn, because he’s profound and light and the same time. When I go on tour, he’s the composer I most end up listening to in my spare time. Haydn would be the ideal composer to bridge the divide between classical and popular music. I intend to record more Haydn albums in the future.”
